Communion Statement

We celebrate the Lord's Supper on the first, third, and fifth Sundays (and their corresponding Saturday night services) each month. This is the meal that Jesus hosts to give us His true body and blood for the forgiveness of our sins and for strengthening our faith.

 COMMUNION STATEMENT

God's Word teaches the real presence of Christ's body and blood invisibly, in, with and under the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. We take seriously the spiritual care of those who commune at our altar. God intends this gift for His baptized children who recognize their sin, trust in Christ as their Savior, desire to live for Him alone and join in this joyful confession. Any who are not yet instructed, in doubt, or who hold a confession different from this, and yet desire to receive the sacrament, will first want to speak with the pastor or one of the deacons before communing.

This means:

  • I believe and trust in Jesus Christ, true God and true man, as my only Savior from sin, death and Satan (John 3:161 Timothy 3:16).
  • I believe that together with the bread and wine, I also receive Christ's true body and blood which is truly present in the Sacrament for my forgiveness (Matt. 26:26281 Corinthians 10:16).
  • I freely acknowledge I am a sinner and come to the Lord's Table believing I will receive its chief blessing; the forgiveness of sins (1 John 1:8-9Matthew 26:281 John 1:7).
  • I am sorry for my sins and resolve with the help of the Holy Spirit to amend my sinful life (2 Corinthians 7:10-11Ephesians 4:22-24).
  • I forgive those who have sinned against me and am not refusing to be reconciled with anyone (Matthew 5:23-24Matthew 6:15).

Children are welcome to come forward to receive a blessing. Should you have any questions please talk to the Pastor, or a Deacon.
